Counseling involves the concerns and problems of "normal" people, and people seek counseling for a variety of reasons. Counselors are non-judgmental, objective helpers. Counseling will involve exploring your problem, setting goals collaboratively, creating strategies for change, information sharing, and evaluation. Sometimes difficulties are addressed in a very few sessions or it may take a period of time to address the issues.
The client decides how often and for how many sessions counseling will last. Sometimes people wonder if the therapists at Methodist Counseling will "force religion on them". We are open to speak about spirituality if clients feel it is appropriate. Our clients set the agenda for what is talked about.
